In retrospect I should have held back and I should have done the thrusters out of a rack, cleaning the bar every time I dropped it wore me out. It was 7,4,3,3,4,4,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,2,3,3,3,2,3,2,3,2, 3,2,3,2,3,3,3. That first 2-rep round was where the real pain started to set in. i ended up just having to SIT in that "dark place" after i got to 50. i seriously think that it temporarily disabled my immune system... I did it off the floor, which makes it all the harder. I went all out the last 3 or 4 minutes and ended up with . At that point my rounds fluctuated between 2-3 thrusters per round until the last round. It's funny that the hardest part is not the actual thrusters or burpees, but in those few seconds right before picking up the bar again where you know you have to because there's just enough time before the next burpees start. at 95# not 135 it was the hardest workout i have ever done in 2.5 years of Crossfit. was pretty much 5555555555145555555555545 or something like that. all i member is somewhere in the middle i "only did 1 thruster" then 4 then back up to 5 till the end i was the only male from my affiliate to finish. im totally doing it again in a month or 2 :) but then at 115 i will consider myself a fire breather when i can actually finish as Rxd I've done it with 95#, took me over 17 minutes. One thing that needs to be clarified with this Wo D, though. I'm curious as to what Rob Orlando did and what John intended. I did end up only doing burpees for two rounds in order to recover some.

This was definitely the hardest I've pushed myself in a while and 20 mins later when I took I shower I ended up puking which is something I've never done before after a WOD and I've definitely never felt the urge to that long after.

Rob, While not surprised by your performance, that is awesome and amazing. --Nick Huge props to Mr Orlando for doing this in ! I just did it this morning in , and thought I was dying. When I only did gymnastics I always had more muscle mass than my teammates (not a great thing in that sport).

You don't realize how hard it is going to be until you are only 5 minutes in and your strategy is already breaking down. So, I've been thinking I would shoot for 20 mins on this one, try and just do 5 thrusters every minute. After high school I followed a bodybuilding type of split but went super heavy on everything just trying to bring my strength numbers up and still grew a ton.

That way I could have a little leeway and still shoot for Rob's time. It has been pointed out to me that I missed a burpee. I might go for four a minute instead and try to finish under 25 mins. Most guys end up doing a knee push-up, AND, then they jump to their feet, they jump and land with their hips very high (knees almost fully extended), and jump from there.

Worked out alright until 42, I think, and then everything went to hell. I thought you should come back from the push-up to a "bottom of an air-squat" possition and jump from there.
